cocoon Club 19th June 2009

The Cocoon Club is situated in the Offenback area of Frankfurt. About 15mins from the Terminal2 at Frankfurt Main Airport. It's a smaller club then one would believe as it looks bigger on Video TV. It comprises of one restaurant, three bars and a kind of steel kitchen where you can buy hotdogs from. Thre is also a Vip area and an outdoor smoking room. The sound proofing and PA is far better than most as its ceiling is covered with a soundproofing material. The light system is also excellent. Drinks though are on the expensive side, and come in an IKEA type plastic cup. Orange,green, are the colours. The toilets are at the far end of the club and are decked out with the most precise of tiling I have ever seen. Gray slate tiles from floor to ceiling. And also the clubs ambiance is relaxed and friendly with the security doing their job invisably.

The crowd was mixed young and old. A few suits but mainly people in their 20's and 30's. The night started off somewhat typical of the German ridged to good to let our hair down so to speak. But that soon ended. Mr Sven Vath and his grouppies were sipping flutes of Citral and poncing around the DJ box as if like some Gods of music scowling the dancefloor in return for respect of the middle classes. Even Mr.Hawtn showed up from the return from Ibiza,he didnt play a set however. The DJ of the night was the owner Mr Sven Vath. He seemed a little reserved from the return of the opening, and slowly as the night evolved began to loosen up. Must be hard being an international media star. His set almost seemed to finish before it started. And those who were left till the end were ushered into the Vip area where he decided to come in. I had the chance to try and speak with him but he seemed a little cranky and I left his company. Later we all joined an afterparty on the otherside of Frankfurt.. All in all a great club and it certainly lives up to its name.
